... if you've immigrated to the U.S. from a Latin American country, care to take James' survey? It's for a project he's working on for his MSW (Master's in Social Work -- I know, how liberal).
If you're interested and want more details on the project, click here. You have until Friday. Thanks!
Master's in Social Work -- I know, how liberal
ReplyDeleteSocial work is NOT "liberal"!! There are MORE republicans who do social work than liberals. Republicans volunteer more often and give more money than liberals also.
Govt. funded social work IS liberal.
I really don't know the ratio of Republicans to Democrats in the social work world. All I know is that if you are a GOOD social worker, whether working in an agency-funded environment or in private practice, you put your polictical and personal views aside. I go to a Jesuit school for my social work degree and I am told that I need to let my clients know that abortion is an option. Maybe non-partisan is a better definition than liberal. And for all of you reading this, if you know anyone who qualifies for this survey, I promised GCL I would give him the results to post. That might promote some lively conversation.
ReplyDeleteNice CYA, James.
ReplyDeleteThanks, TCG.
ReplyDeleteJames,
ReplyDeleteTrue to my Republican upbringing, I don't know any immigrants (JK). Seriously, if I know of anyone who fits your criteria I will send them to the survey.
I do have one inquiry, for my own curiosity: in the question where you ask "What is your status" you avoid using the term "Illegal" and instead offer "no status" or something like that. Can I ask, respectfully, why you chose not use Illegal? I am not a fan of the term "Illegal", but it does seem obvious that the term was avoided in the survey.
Great question!
ReplyDeleteNever thought about that aspect of "classification."
